Film Weekly podcast: Monkeying around with Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Project Nim – audio

In this week's bumper simian edition, Jason Solomons meets Rupert Wyatt, the British director behind Rise of the Planet of the Apes. In what should be a double bill, the documentary Project Nim, directed by Oscar-winning Man on Wire director James Marsh, is also released this week. Jason talks to Marsh about this 1970s tale of a social and scientific experiment involving a chimpanzee called Nim Chimpsky and its heartbreaking consequences.

The Interrupters is a stoic, sadly relevant lesson in prevalent street violence in present-day Chicago. It is the work of Hoop Dreams director Steve James, and chronicles a year in the life of a group of courageous community workers, known as the interrupters.

Xan Brooks joins Jason to review some of this week's other releases, including Audrey Tautou in Beautiful Lies and Dominic Cooper in The Devil's Double.
