On Film Weekly this week, Jason Solomons meets a rising star of French cinema, director Céline Sciamma. Céline won critical acclaim for her 2007 film Water Lilies, a coming of age drama that managed to merge sex and synchronised swimming. Now she returns to the UK with Tomboy, another film that plays on gender expectations. The film follows Laure, an eleven-year-old girl who decides to re-invent herself as a boy called Michael when she moves to a new home.
Jason also meets Scottish director David Mackenzie to discuss his lo-fi festival romance You Instead, which stars Luke Treadaway and Natalia Tena.
Xan Brooks joins Jason to review some of this week's other releases including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and the Jesse Eisenberg heist comedy 30 Minutes or Less.
