Film show: The best French films of the year

ENCORE! © FRANCE 24

As the Lumières, France's equivalent to the Golden Globes, announce their winners, film critic Lisa Nesselson and Eve Jackson review the selection, which includes a documentary made up of footage shot during the Yellow Vest protests, "The Monopoly of Violence"; as well as "Two of Us," a secret lesbian romance; Maïwenn's ensemble cast dramedy "DNA", plus the animated feature "Josep", about a real-life artist who survived the Spanish Civil War only to end up in a concentration camp in France.

They also talk about Emmanuel Mouret's "Les choses qu'on dit, les choses qu'on fait," an intricate, talky and gorgeous ensemble piece whose English-language title is "Love Affair(s)".
