Film show: Scarlett Johansson and the 'terrific cast' of Wes Anderson's 'Asteroid City'

After a Cannes premiere, Wes Anderson's "Asteroid City" opens in theatres. While some critics say the indie director is constantly remaking the same quirky movie, FRANCE 24's film critic Lisa Nesselson hasn't tired of Anderson's pastel colour scheme. She says "Asteroid City" is full of wonderful moments, with 1950s American iconography that's "splendidly evocative".

We're also joined by French director Bertrand Bonello, the head of the feature film jury at the 12th annual Champs-Élysées Film Festival, which showcases independent work from France and the US. He explains what it means to be an independent filmmaker in France, how he feels about streaming services, and how important it is to preserve France's unique cinema funding system.

Finally, we take a look at the latest film from the animators at Pixar. "Elemental" is a "Romeo and Juliet"-inspired tale about whether the bond between two opposing elements can overcome their natures and their families.
