The 7th Thailand International Film Destination Festival has been kicked off to promote the country as a top destination for film locations.

The annual festival comprises two parts. The first is the "Thailand On Screen" event that will show five international movies that were shot in the Kingdom.

Screenings from March 27-31 are Detective Chinatown (2015), Bounty Hunters (2016), The Hangover Part II (2011), Gold (2016) and Changeland (2018). The screening times start around 7pm at Paragon Cineplex, 5th floor Siam Paragon with first-come-first-serve free tickets.

The second event is "Thailand Short Film Competition" designed for international and Thai university students.

Twenty teams of international student filmmakers and 15 teams of Thai students were selected by a judging panel to compete in the contest. Each team will have two participants. They will travel to one of 55 second-tier provinces this week to produce a short movie (not more than 10 minutes). The theme is "Living Eco Living Thainess".

The Thailand Film Office provides round-trip tickets, accommodation, a budget of 30,000 baht and professional production support to competing teams.

The winners will receive prizes totalling 430,000 baht. The award ceremony announcing winners will be hosted on April 2 at KBank Siam Pic-Ganesha theatre at Siam Square One.
