Film crews shoot for new Sky series COBRA in Liverpool today

Film crews have been in Liverpool city centre today to film a new Sky original drama.

Images captured by the ECHO show a shoot happening at Exchange Flags for series two of popular Sky TV show COBRA.

Crew members can also be seen walking down Water Street and around Liverpool's Town Hall.

This isn't the first time the Sky team have been in Liverpool filming, as the city also appeared in the first season of the COBRA series.

Back in November, camera cranes and lighting scaffolding were also set up to shoot the series starring Robert Carlyle from Trainspotting, The Crown star Victoria Hamilton and Richard Dormer from Game of Thrones.

The series follows the British Government and its COBRA committee - and how they deal with national emergencies.

Sky provided a synopsis of what is to come in season two with the ECHO.

A spokesperson said: "The lights may be back on, but the country’s troubles are far from over in series 2 of COBRA written by Ben Richards.

"In the aftermath of both solar and political storms, Prime Minister Robert Sutherland (Robert Carlyle) attempts to steer the country on a more even course.

"He is assisted, as ever, by his loyal Chief of Staff Anna Marshall (Victoria Hamilton), alongside a team of dedicated advisers.

"An assassination on British soil, however, unleashes a chain of events that threatens to develop into a crisis even more serious than the one from which the country has recently emerged.

"An invisible global enemy, not playing by the rules and operating outside national boundaries, appears to be bent on our destruction, leaving an entire country unsure as to who is friend and who is foe."
