Film crew spotted shooting for TV series near Kelvingrove Park

A film crew has been spotted near Kelvingrove Park this evening.

Twitter user Glasgow Deliveroo Rider shared a photo from Parkgrove Terrace at around 5:40pm which shows three people in white forensic suits and masks with a gazebo set up nearby.

They said: "Some pretend scene-of-crime activity was going on today for a film shoot at Parkgrove Terrace, beside Kelvingrove Park, in Glasgow’s West End. (No idea for what programme or film, I’m afraid)."

It's understood shooting is underway for a forthcoming TV series based on Irvine Welsh's book Crime. Scenes have so far been filmed in Edinburgh, Glasgow's Wyndford area and Maryhill earlier this month.

One follower responded to the Tweet claiming the crew had asked permission to film in their basement flat in the same area.

The drama marks the first time Welsh's work will have been adapted for television and will star Dougray Scott in the lead role, with support from Angela Griffin, Joanna Vanderham and Jamie Sives.

James Strong is directing the show which is expected to debut on the streaming service Britbox later this year.

Meanwhile, filming for the new ITV drama Karen Pirie is taking place in Maryhill's Collina Street next Tuesday. The series is based on the Val McDermid novel The Distant Echo.
