Film crew get an unexpected set visit from police as locals worry they're shooting a porno

A Glasgow film crew got more than they bargained for on set recently when they were reported to police - because locals thought they were shooting a porn film.

You would think we’d all be used to seeing film crews on our streets by now, with Glasgow regularly on the big screen flaunting all it's got. It wasn’t long ago that viewers spotted Govan Graving Docks in blockbuster 1917 - and last month, the whole of the city was on alert for glimpses of Batman.

But even with such high profile productions happening on our doorstep - police still had to show up at a film set during a shoot in Cumbernauld following reports from worried residents.

“When you're making a short film at an underpass in Cumbernauld, the last thing you expect is the police to turn up saying - and I quote - “We had a report of people making a porno!”” said a post on the Stills Scotland’s Facebook page.

Glasgow-based director Alasdair Marshall was in Cumbernauld shooting his latest movie when police showed up on set.

The hilarious misunderstanding brought the whole production to a halt - but the officers quickly realised that the cast were clothed from head to toe.

Alasdair told Glasgow Live: “We all laughed. A porno? Not in this weather! The police were great sports when they actually realised what was happening.

“They said they’d had a report that someone was filming a porno, but they could clearly see that wasn’t the case.

“I just don’t understand what about an underpass in Cumbernauld, in freezing conditions - with actors in monster make up - screams porn to someone.”

Well, we suppose it all depends on what you're into ...

Perhaps it was a bit of screaming that sent locals off on one - because the crew were actually shooting 2 for 1, a short horror film from Slybacon Productions.

The film - about a drunkard named Charlie who gets what he deserves after trying to attack two pedestrians - is due to be completed by the end of March, and you can find out more about it here .
