PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Wednesday asked the heads of general administration and home departments to begin the necessary process to fill-up all vacancies in all departments of the state government.
"Whatever vacancies are available in the departments, begin the process to fill up all those vacancies," Nitish said while reviewing the functioning of the state’s general administration and home departments at a meeting held at ‘Sankalp’ hall of the CM residence.
The CM further told the officials that the maintenance works of all government buildings, roads, bridges and culverts must be executed through the concerned departments. "As many as engineers and employees will be required for the execution of maintenance works, they all should be recruited," he said.
Speaking at the meeting, Nitish said ever since he got the opportunity to work for the state, many major development works were executed. Commercial activities increased manifold while Bihar’s Budget size grew over Rs 2 lakh crore. Lots of infrastructures including big signature buildings, major roads, bridges and culverts were built across the state. "Now, maintenance works of all these government infrastructures should be executed through the concerned departments," he said.
While delivering Independence Day speech at the Gandhi Maidan on August 15 this year, Nitish announced that his government aimed to create 20 lakh jobs — within and outside the government — in the state.
"Now we have come together and with the new generation by our side (referring to Deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav) we want that maximum government jobs should be given to the youth of the state. …… We will do so much to create jobs and employment opportunities for the children of the state -- in both government and outside -- that if we succeed, we want to take the figure to 20 lakhs (two million)," Nitish had said on August 15.
Earlier at the review meeting, additional chief secretary (home) Chaitanya Prasad informed the CM about the works being executed by the department. Prasad also gave the latest figures about the sanctioned and working strength in the state police.
The general administration department’s principal secretary B Rajender gave department-wise information about the sanctioned posts and the officers and employees working against it in different departments of the state government.
The additional chief secretary (planning and development) Arunish Chawla, through a presentation, gave detailed information to the CM about the scope of employment generation in the private sector.
