Andy Reid believes Nottingham Forest need to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
The Reds legend has been discussing his former club's promotion prospects this season.
Forest are currently 10th in the table, two points outside the play-off zone with a game in hand, and five points behind leaders West Bromwich Albion.
Sabri Lamouchi's men have lost their past two matches, though, and Reid reckons the manager will need reinforcements in the new year.
In particular, the former Republic of Ireland international feels the Reds must bolster their current strike force by bringing in cover and competition for Lewis Grabban up front.
Grabban is Forest's top scorer this term, with five goals in 13 appearances. Next is Joe Lolley, who has four goals to his name in all competitions.
"The thing about the squad, it's a really, really big squad, and I think that can go well for you, and it can go against you," Reid told BBC Radio Nottingham's The Terrace show.
"I think they are short up top if Lewis Grabban picks up an injury.
"That's not just a lazy thing to say because everyone is saying it - I think it's a fact.
"If he's not playing, then you think where are the goals going to come from on a regular basis?
"I'm not too sure there's anybody to step in and fill that void."
