FK Partizan confirm Filip Stevanovic to Man City transfer

FK Partizan have confirmed Filip Stevanovic will officially join Manchester City during the January transfer window.

The MEN reported earlier this month that the Blues were set to sign Stevanovic for around £6m. The 18-year-old winger is already into his third season of professional football and had been linked with a number of clubs around Europe, but it is City who have secured his signature.

An FK Partizan tweet said: "Partizan is pleased to announce the transfer of Filip Stevanovic to Manchester City in the winter transition period of 2021.

"The transfer of Filip Stevanovic to one of the largest European clubs is a significant confirmation of the good and hard work of all club structures."

Pep Guardiola reiterates desire to remain at Manchester City amid Barcelona rumours

City will make a decision on the best pathway for Stevanovic when he arrives in January. Given he is getting regular football with Partizan, a realistic option would be for him to stay there for the remainder of the 2020/21 season but City have their own vast network of clubs where he could gain further experience.

Stevanovic plays predominantly as a left winger but can operate on the other flank or in an attacking midfield role. He has three goals and two assists from 15 appearances for Partizan this season.

City have continued to invest in young players, with some remaining with the academy and others heading out on loan. Summer arrivals Yan Couto and Pablo Moreno are at Girona, for example, while two younger signings - Juan Larios and Romeo Lavia - have been featuring for the U18 side at the CFA. With Stevanovic's experience in a first-team setting, though, it might make more sense for him to be loaned out to continue his development.
