Filip Helander makes Rangers 'no excuses' pledge as he talks up Ianis Hagi deal

Rangers defender Filip Helander assures he and his team-mates will be raring to go when the season starts, as he warns there can be "no excuses".

The Swedish centre-back joined Steven Gerrard 's squad from Bologna last summer, but injury struggles and the season ending early meant his Ibrox career never truly got going.

As Rangers look to stop Celtic from winning 10 in a Row next season though, Helander says he and the squad will be firing on all cylinders.

He told Rangers TV: "I'm very confident.

"Of course there's still a long way to go but if it's the first of August, or whenever it's going to be, there's no excuse to not be ready.

"We're all looking forward to it."

Rangers have got their summer business started early, with Ianis Hagi signing a permanent deal and Jon McLaughlin coming in from Sunderland.

Asked about those dealings Helander replied: "I think it's a great signal from the club.

"As a player you want your team to be as strong as possible and that's what we're looking for every day in training when new players are coming in."
