Filip Helander drops out of Rangers Europa League squad as Andy King and Brandon Barker are added

Filip Helander has been axed from Rangers' Europa League squad as Andy King and Brandon Barker were drafted in to face Legia Warsaw.

Steven Gerrard's side will travel to Poland for Thursday's clash and the manager has drafted his two new signings into the fold.

But their inclusion comes at the expense of £3million signing Helander and midfielder Greg Docherty, who both featured in the Betfred Cup last 16 victory over East Fife on Sunday.

The Swede impressed on his first competitive appearance, assisting Jermain Defoe's opener and almost claiming a goal of his own before ultimately forcing Ross Dunlop to turn into his own net.

However, despite telling Gerrard he's ready to star on the European stage, Helander won't be involved in the first leg.

Barker and King also made their debuts from the bench in the 3-0 win and could now be involved in the club's final push towards the group stage.

Both were signed over the past 10 days to provide further depth to Rangers ' squad.

Meanwhile, Legia fans are already gearing up for the second leg a week on Thursday.

Supporters unveiled a banner during their side's 1-0 win over Zaglebie on Sunday promising a Glasgow invasion.

The banner boasted: "Wives are crying, children are crying, each one of us is flying to Glasgow."
