Fikayo Tomori makes Thomas Tuchel admission as Chelsea defender takes on Man United

Thomas Tuchel still has not reached out to Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori since his arrival in January.

Tomori is currently on loan at AC Milan and he might not return to Stamford Bridge even when his loan deal expires this summer with the Serie A giants holding an option to buy.

AC Milan have an option to buy said to be worth £25 million plus £5 million in add-ons and there are already talks the Italians are pursuing a permanent deal for the defender.

Tomori has already racked up eight appearances for AC Milan since joining on loan in January, more than he managed in the entirety of the first half of the season at Chelsea.

The centre-back might have ended up staying at Chelsea if he had stayed a few more days, with Tuchel taking over just a couple of days before his departure, but he is enjoying life in Italy.

And he told CBS Sports on Wednesday that Tuchel had still not been in touch despite Tomori making the same claim last month.

He said: "Personally, I haven't had anything from the manager himself but obviously he's got his own players there to worry about so I'm sure it will be difficult for him to message me.

'It's nothing that I'm worried about, I'm focused on here and I'm sure he's the same at Chelsea.'

Tuchel said last time around that there "would be a time" to hold talks with Tomori and that he could well have a future at Chelsea.

But it would seem the 23-year-old is happy to stay in Italy, telling reporters: "It's amazing to feel wanted here, especially by a legend like (Paulo) Maldini, one of the greatest defenders of all time, if not the very best.

"This gives me a lot of confidence. I want to keep doing what I'm doing, play for the team and for my teammates. We'll see what happens in the future."

Tomori also spoke about his side's Europa League clash with Manchester United on Thursday.

"It'll be really tough," he added. " These are two teams with a lot of history. It'll be a game full of passion. Everybody knows Manchester United. We've studied them hard and analysed the game.

"They have some really quick forwards. We know that it'll be difficult but we will give it our all and try to produce a great performance."
