Fiji newspaper publisher deported

The Australian publisher of the Fiji Sun, a newspaper critical of Fiji's interim government, was taken from his home in Suva last night and deported. Russell Hunter was put on a Sydney-bound plane. It is thought that stories highlighting alleged tax evasion by a former prime minister may have been behind the deportation. But the paper has also criticised the current prime minister, Voreqe Bainimarama, who has led the country since staging a coup in December 2006.
