Figures reveal cost of Nottingham Forest's last two busy transfer windows

Nottingham Forest have spent more than £2m on agents’ fees in the last two transfer windows.

Only five clubs in the Championship splashed out more than the Reds’ £2,189,016 on intermediary and agents’ fees from February 1, 2020 to February 1 of this year, according to the Football Association.

That period covers last summer’s transfer window, when Forest made 14 new signings, as well as the January window just gone, when three players were added.

Ahead of the current season, the club brought in Cyrus Christie, Loic Mbe Soh, Tyler Blackett, Scott McKenna, Nicholas Ioannou, Jack Colback, Fouad Bachirou, Luke Freeman, Cafu, Harry Arter, Lyle Taylor, Miguel Angel Guerrero and Abdoulaye Diallo while Sabri Lamouchi was still in charge.

How Nottingham Forest should approach the summer transfer window

After the Frenchman was replaced by Chris Hughton in October, Anthony Knockaert put pen to paper before the domestic window closed.

The Fulham winger then extended his loan stay from Fulham in January, while James Garner, Glenn Murray and Filip Krovinovic came in.

The Reds’ figure for agents’ fees is up on the preceding year, having forked out £1.2m from February 1, 2019 to January 31, 2020.

In total, Championship clubs have spent more than £40m paying agents over the last year, with Norwich City dishing out the most at £6.8m.

Wycombe Wanderers spent the least, at just £126,053.
