Fighting talk from Birmingham City boss Pep Clotet ahead of Leeds United clash

Leeds United are 'one of the best teams' in the Championship, according to Birmingham City boss Pep Clotet - but the Spaniard says his side will feel that they can still take three points against the Whites.

are once again in the thick of a battle for promotion, among half-a-dozen sides separated by only a few points near the top of the table.

However, they have not made quite as imperious a start as they did last term, with United having taken only one win in their last four games to sit near the lower end of the play-off positions at this early juncture.

'Everything is possible'

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, former Leeds assistant manager Clotet spoke up his one-time club as one of the heavyweights in the second tier, while stating that he believes his side can at Elland Road win despite their own mixed form.

"Obviously we know that opposition plays a big part in the games that you play," he noted. "Now it’s about Leeds United, [who are] a really strong team and, for me, one of the best teams in the league.

"Everything is possible in life. Opposition play a big part because Leeds want to do the same as us, attack and when they lose the ball, get it back as quickly as possible to keep attacking.

"That’s entirely what we want so it’s going to be very interesting. Leeds are possibly a year and a half ahead of us [in development]. But we have a lot of confidence in ourselves.

"It is a game we want to use as a benchmark and it’s a fantastic test and a fantastic challenge. We hope that both teams put in a great display and we can see a fantastic football game."
