A vicious fight broke out when a dog lover opened a stranger's car to retrieve a dog left inside it for more than 40 minutes while temperatures sizzled outside.
Jennifer William-Frangie, from Massachusetts, US, said she had noticed the dog inside the vehicle and had waited for the owner, who was grocery shopping, to return.
The windows were down but as there were 85F (29.5C) outside, and, 42 minutes on there was still no sign of the owner, she decided to intervene and open the door of the car to help the dog.
But when the dog's owner returned alongside her husband and child, she was furious someone had opened her car without permission.
The women got into a loud spat, with the owner and her partner trying to defend their position claiming the only reason her dog was "soaking wet" was because he went "swimming".

They also claimed he was "shaking" because of the stranger's intrusion.
"You touched my door on my car!" she can be heard screaming in Williams-Frangie's face in a video posted on Facebook. "Do you own my vehicle?"
The two start threatening to call the police on one another, which Williams-Frangie later claimed she had already done.
The dog owner then intensifies her abuse as she starts hurling racial slurs while her partner tosses a glass bottle outside the window.
The couple and their child eventually retreat, with a last-minute and very peculiar show-off line about them owning 20 chickens.
Joshua Candelaria, who witnessed and filmed the incident at the Big Y parking lot in Greenfield on Monday, shared a post on Facebook saying: "Just out for groceries and notice a dog locked in his car on a hot day like today.
"As we look around for the owner we see no one.
"Jennifer Williams-Frangie pulls up and says she had been watching the car for around 20 minutes."
Williams-Frangie also took to Facebook to share her experience and stand by her intervention.
"It's 85° out, you’re parked on blacktop and even though you've cracked your window about 2 inches you've decided to leave your poor little dog in the car while you grocery shop," she wrote.

"I am that person that will sit with your dog and watch to make sure he's OK and then I'm going to break into your car after a certain amount of time and give him a bowl of water."
And the law seems to back her actions too as a post on Facebook in June by Massachusetts police pleaded with dog owners not to leave their pets in a parked vehicle, warning that heat could be deadly for them.
It added: "For bystanders who witness a pet in a parked vehicle on a hot day, please call 911.
"If a pet is in obvious distress and the situation appears dire, state law allows a bystander to make entry into the vehicle to rescue the pet, even by breaking a window, as long as they have made good faith attempts to locate the owner first and have already called and are still awaiting arrival of first responders."
