Fight between brothers turns fatal after man collapses on driveway in front of neighbours

WA Police have cordoned off the house after the man collapsed on the driveway and died.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of a man in Perth's northern suburbs after what is believed to have been a fight between two brothers.

Police were called to a home on Manapouri Meander in Joondalup about 12:30am.

Neighbours in the cul-de-sac said they were woken by the sound of children who lived at the home screaming.

Their mother, who did not want to be named, said it was an ordinary night before a man allegedly jumped over her back fence.

She said she recognised him as the brother of another man who lived nearby.

The alleged intruder was behaving erratically so she sent one of her children to fetch help, and the man's brother arrived to settle the situation down.

But the pair got into a fight which spilled into the front yard.

During the altercation, the brother who came to help collapsed onto the driveway of the home.

The woman who lived at the house called triple-zero and was offered assistance as she gave the man CPR for almost 20 minutes before an ambulance arrived.

But the collapsed man, a father of four who is aged in his 30s, died after being taken to hospital.

Dozens of police officers descended on the street and arrested the brother, also aged in his 30s, who had allegedly climbed the fence.

He has since been released without charge.

Detectives guarded the crime scene overnight and a team of forensic investigators returned to the home today.

The woman was visibly shaken by the ordeal but said she was most concerned about the family of the deceased man and for her four children who witnessed the incident.
