Fight between 12 people at Weston skatepark on night of stabbing

About 12 people were involved in a fight on Sunday morning at Weston skatepark where an 18-year-old man was stabbed to death.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward following the stabbing, which happened about 1am.

When emergency services responded, an 18-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were found at the scene with stab wounds. The 16-year-old is recovering.

There have been no arrests in relation to the death.

ACT Policing Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said police had already spoken with a number of young people who had been involved in a fight at the skatepark on the night.

He said about 12 people had been involved in the fight, which had been between people of "varying ages".

Detective Superintendent Moller would not be drawn on whether there was a suspect. He said they were looking at a "number of investigative leads". He did say the incident was "absolutely not gang related".

More to come.
