Fifty years of Hounslow

London’s 32 borough councils were created in 1965. Yes, it’s their 50th anniversary year. Many have been marking the occasion, including Hounslow which has compiled and shared a beguiling before-and-after video. “Just how important is a local authority’s work to the community?” inquires the voice over in the first part. Hounslow borough council celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Thanks to Tony Travers for telling me about the Hounslow film. He found it while research his forthcoming book to be entitled London Boroughs at 50, which is expected to be published in November. Spring Grove primary school in Isleworth is still around, by the way.
