Fifty jobs created as B&M prepares to open in Coatbridge

More than 50 jobs are being created as discount retailer B&M prepares to open a new branch in Coatbridge later this month.

The new store at Faraday retail park in the town will open its doors at 9am on Thursday, October 15.

B&M say its new premises at units 14 and 15 have had “a comprehensive internal and external refurbishment” ahead of the opening day and described the new store as “a welcome boost to the local economy”.

A company spokesperson told the Airdrie and Coatbridge Advertiser: “We are all really excited to get the doors open and welcome our new customers.

“We’re feeling really positive about the creation of more jobs for local people and we hope customers are going to be delighted with their new store.”

New staff members were recruited during the summer for a range of full-time and part-time posts including customer service, checkouts, replenishment and shop floor at the store, which sells a range of products including health and beauty, homewares and toys.

Fulton MacGregor, the Coatbridge MSP, welcomed news of the new store opening, saying: “This is a welcome boost for the site and local employment opportunities.

“I have been having meetings regarding investment and future plans for the Faraday park and will always fight for investment in the constituency.”
