Fifth suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of ruthless gangster Robbie Lawlor

Police investigating the fatal shooting of gangster Robbie Lawlor have made another arrest.

The 36-year-old Dubliner was shot dead at Etna Drive in North Belfast at around 11.50am last Saturday.

Police have so far questioned and released three men aged 27, 30 and 33 and a 17-year-old boy in relation to the death.

A fifth suspect, a man aged 36, was arrested on Tuesday night.

Lawlor was believed to have been a suspect in the brutal murder of 17-year-old Keane Mulready-Woods whose dismembered remains were found in Dublin in January.

There had been unconfirmed reports Lawlor was making demands for money from certain people in North Belfast prior to his death.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Detectives investigating the murder of Robbie Lawlor in Etna Drive in North Belfast on Saturday have arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

“The male was detained last night and remains in custody at present.”
