Fifth of Reform members think non-white British citizens should leave UK, poll finds

  • A new poll by Hope Not Hate indicates that a fifth of Reform members want non-white British citizens, whose parents were born in the UK, to be forcibly removed or encouraged to leave the country.
  • More than half of Reform members believe non-white British citizens born abroad should be forcibly removed or encouraged to leave, a view held by only 24 per cent regarding white citizens.
  • Nick Lowes, chief executive of Hope Not Hate, stated that Reform members are generally 'more pessimistic, angry and extreme than the British public', with almost half disliking mixing with other ethnicities locally.
  • The survey also revealed that over half of Reform members would prefer a strong leader who can override Parliament, and two-thirds believe a civil war will happen in Britain.
  • Reform's immigration policies include establishing a 'UK Deportation Command' to remove up to 288,000 people annually and imposing 'visa freezes' on countries that refuse to take back migrants. The Independent has approached Reform UK for comment.
