Fifth missing Basset Hound stolen in break-in at kennels more than 100 miles away is found

The last outstanding stolen Basset Hound dog which was believed to have been in Greater Manchester has been found.

A pack of five of the dogs was snatched during a burglary at kennels in Leicestershire back in February.

Since then, a huge social media campaign appealing for information about their whereabouts has been running.

A police investigation into the thefts in the village of South Kilworth, more than 100 miles away, on Wednesday, February 17, is also underway.

This week, four of the dogs were recovered at two separate addresses in Greater Manchester.

Two of them, females Lattice, three, and Drama, 18 months, were discovered at a property, believed to be in Salford, on Saturday.

Landlord and Banish were recovered by GMP officers in Wigan on Monday (GMP Leigh, Atherton and Hindley)

Then another two, three-year-old male, Landlord, and an 18 month-old female, called Banish, were recovered from an address in Hindley, Wigan on Monday.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said yesterday the fifth dog, an 18-month-old female called Bashful, was still missing and they believed it could also be in Greater Manchester.

However it has now been confirmed it was recovered in Chorley, Lancashire, by GMP officers last night, Wednesday, April, 7.

Three people – two women and a man – have been arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Sergeant Paul Archer, from Leicestershire Police said today: “I am pleased that the dogs have been found.

“I would like to thank both the public for their assistance in locating the dogs and colleagues from Greater Manchester Police for recovering them.”
