Camila Cabello quits: Fifth Harmony singer leaves band

The singer Camila Cabello has quit the group Fifth Harmony.

In a statement shared on the band’s social media accounts, the remaining members: Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui said Cabello had informed the group she was leaving “via her representatives”.

“After four and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well,” the statement said.

The band thanked fans for their support and vowed to continue as a four-piece. “We are excited for our future and we can’t wait for what the new year brings,” they wrote.

The group were formed on the US version of The X Factor, which lasted only three seasons, after all auditioning as solo singers in 2012. They were mentored by Simon Cowell and later signed a joint deal with the music mogul’s record label SyCo and Epic Records which is owned by fellow X Factor judge L.A. Reid.

While Fifth Harmony has enjoyed vast commercial success this year with singles like “Work From Home” and “That’s My Girl” the band have long dodged rumours of frictions or a split.
