Fifth arrest in connection with Camden barbecue shooting

A fifth person has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Camden last weekend.

Four people were injured when up to five males “indiscriminately” fired a weapon into a large crowd during a communal barbecue in Clarence Gardens on Saturday.

The police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder on Friday, August 20.

It is the fifth arrest in the investigation so far.

On Tuesday, August 17, a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent.

On Wednesday, August 16, two teenagers were arrested.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Thursday, August 19 on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent.

All five have been bailed until mid-September while the investigation continues.

Shots were fired into a group of people attending the event near Regent’s Park just before 10.10pm on Saturday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police, including firearms officers, attended along with paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

Four people were taken to a local hospital.

One has since been discharged from hospital and the other three people remain in hospital.

Their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening.
