Fife police appeal for information after seven cars are vandalised and broken into during lockdown

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information after seven cars in Fife were either vandalised or broken into.

Between Friday, 10 April and Monday, 13 April, cars in the Fife village of Kinglassie were robbed and vandalised.

All of the cars were either parked on the main street or a street nearby and were targeted over the Easter weekend.

The vehicles that were targeted were either left smashed or with personal items missing.

Glenrothes Community Inspector Kirk Donnelly, said: "Kinglassie is a small village and I am sure someone would have either seen, heard or have information about what’s happened to these cars over the weekend.

"Officers are checking CCTV at the moment and speaking to local residents, however, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen someone or maybe a group of people acting suspiciously near to vehicles or in the area in the last couple of days.

"Additional patrols will be in the area to provide public reassurance and to engage with the public especially at this time in relation to the Government guidelines prohibiting the congregation of more than two people.

"I would also urge residents to make sure their personal belongings are removed from their vehicles and that the vehicles are then locked and secured."

Information can contact Glenrothes Police Station via 101 quoting reference number 1105 of 12 April 2020 or anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
