Fife man found dead after horror grill pan fire caused flat inferno

A man has died after a horror flat fire in Fife, started by a grill pan.

Fire crews and police raced to Randolph Street in Buckhaven on Friday April 2 morning.

The alarm was raised at around 7.40am after reports of a property alight, and sadly officers found the body of a man inside the flat.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) chiefs revealed that the blaze started after a grill pan was left unattended.

Two fire appliances tackled the blaze and left the scene around two hours later.

A SFRS spokeswoman told the Daily Record : "We were called to a flat fire in Randolph Street, Buckhaven at 7.49am on April 2.

"The fire was caused by an unattended grill pan.

"It resulted in one male fatality.

"No information is available on the man's age.

"Two appliances attended.

"Fire crews left the scene at 9.40am."

Police have since launched a probe into the inferno and enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesman told the Record: "At around 7.40am on Friday, April 2 we were made aware of a fire at a property in Randolph Street, Buckhaven.

"Emergency services attended and the body of a man was found inside.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
