Fife landlord charged with reckless conduct after he kept pub open despite new lockdown rules

A Fife man has been charged in connection with culpable and reckless conduct after police discovered a licensed premises still open despite the restrictions in the early hours of Friday morning.

Fife moved to level three of restrictions on 13 November, which means hospitality must close down at 6pm with no alcohol allowed to be served.

But at around 1.20am on Friday, 13 November police discovered a pub operating as normal in Kirkgate, Dunfermline Town.

A 53-year-old man was charged and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal.


Area Commander Chief Inspector Paul Dick said: “There are currently clear regulations in place which apply to all licensed premises in the Fife area, and I would urge all landlords to adhere to them.

“Officers will be visiting licensed premises throughout Fife to check that they are operating safely, within the current guidelines and anyone who is caught breaching the rules will be held accountable.
