A Fife industrial estate has been sealed off after "human remains" were discovered.
The grim find was made at the Whitehill Industrial Estate in Glenrothes, shortly after 5pm.
Officers locked down the area, shutting off nearby streets and establishing cordons in the area.
An investigation has been launched, Police Scotland have confirmed.
A spokesperson said: “Around 5.20pm on Sunday 27th September 2020 police were called after unidentified human remains were found at an industrial estate on Whitehill Road in Glenrothes.
“Enquires are at an early stage.”
Reacting to the news, one local said: "So sad some poor family will get the worst news ever but hopefully closure."
"How sad...someone’s going to get heartbreaking news", said another.
