Fife chippy's battered square sausage breakfast roll hailed as 'ultimate treat'

We know that there's nothing more us Scots love than chucking something in batter and throwing it in a deep fat fryer, but hear us out as one Fife chippy might have invented the ultimate treat.

There was a lot of hype around one Cambuslang chippy who wowed batter fanatics with its deep fried pickled onions but let's be real, who really wants that?

Leith chippy The Mermaid (may it rest in peace) introduced deep-fried Terry's Chocolate Orange segments and disco-chippy Cafe Piccante on Broughton Street are famed for their deep-friend Christmas puddings.

But what about for us savoury lovers?

May we introduce to an extremely Scottish offering: THE DEEP FRIED SQUARE SAUSAGE ROLL.

Ilario’s in Fife has impressed punters on social media with their battered-take on the humble breakfast favourite.

A Facebook post that unveils the addition to the chippy’s menu has been shared more than 1,000 times and who can blame them?

The post attracted a lot of comments from far and wide with one writing: “Now these are banging.”

Another said: “This is something I need to try.”

The big question however - do you put red or brown sauce on it? We'll let you decide.
