FULL-TIME: USA 1 - 1 Wales

Gareth Bale had a chance to chip the keeper from almost the half way line right at the death but he was felled by the most tactical of tactical fouls - and the game ends even.

That's a fair result in the end.

The US were completely dominant in the first 45 minutes, but Wales came out with the wind in their sales and piled the pressure on in the second term. Both teams deserved the goals they got on balance.

If only there was a cliche available to describe a game in which different teams were on top in each half.

Possible France XI:

I mean, there are a lot of big players missing, but Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappé, Giroud is still terrifying.

The great Welshman and original Fox in the Box is getting behind Wales's first World Cup run in 64 years, not surprisingly.

FIFA rejects 'Love'

By Dan Colasimone

FIFA has rejected the Belgium soccer team's away strip because of the word "Love" in the collar combined with a rainbow-coloured trim on the shirt, a spokesperson for the Red Devils said on Monday.

The design was inspired by the fireworks of Belgian's famous music festival Tomorrowland and stands for diversity, equality and inclusivity.

"The Belgian national team will play with their main red shirt during the first three games", Belgium spokesperson Stefan Van Loock said, adding that if they get through the first World Cup round in Qatar, the issue will be dealt with then.

If the word 'Love' is removed from the inside of the shirt, the team is allowed to wear it.

The away shirts are a new design and were introduced in September. Since then, Belgium played in them in several UEFA Nations League games.

The rejection comes after FIFA threatened to issue yellow cards to any player wearing the multi-coloured 'OneLove' armband which was introduced to support diversity and inclusion.

The Belgian Football Association said earlier on Monday that its captain Eden Hazard will not play wearing the armband.

Do the Socceroos have a chance against France?

By Dan Colasimone

Keen to hear your thoughts.

France have lost some huge names in Benzema, Kante and Pogba, but I feel like the Socceroos losing Martin Boyle is almost as big a blow - due to not having anywhere near the squad depth to cope.

SBS is reporting that Hrustic will sit out the France game in order to be fully fit for the other two group.

This time tomorrow morning...

We will either be celebrating a glorious Socceroos victory over France, or doing the maths on the final two group games to work out how we can go through. Or, I suppose, celebrating a glorious draw.

Here's Sam Lewis's preview:

Bale's Wales

Gareth Bale on scoring Wales's first World Cup goal in 64 years.

"Incredible, but I'd have rathered the three points really."

Wales searching for the winner

90+8' USA 1 - 1 Wales

It's the team in red who are pushing forward as the clock winds down. About a minute left.

90+2' USA 1 - 1 Wales

Well that's bizarre. Anyway, plenty of time for one of these teams to snatch a winner.

GOOOAL WALES! Gareth Bale makes it 1-1

By Dan Colasimone

Bale smashed that into the top corner. He waves his hand around to indicate there's more to come.

And Wales would fancy themselves here, the momentum is certainly behind them.

Penalty Wales!

81' USA 1 - 0 Wales

Great build up by Wales and Bale is chopped down on the edge of the area!

Bale steps up.

USA hanging on

By Dan Colasimone

75' USA 1 - 0 Wales

The US are making bulk substitutions here as Wales look to turn the screws. The Welsh are certainly on top, but I think the next goal is still 50-50, as the Americans look just as threatening when they do get forward.

Josh Cavallo on the armbands fiasco

Here's our story on what the Australian footballer thinks of the seven countries who backed down from wearing anti-discrimination armbands in the face of FIFA's threats of punishment.

We've got a game on our hands

63' USA 1 - 0 Wales

This is good, end-to-end stuff now, with Wales regularly winning possession in attacking areas and creating half chances, and the US ducking the punches and looking to strike on the counter, particularly through McKennie and Pulisic.

Ben Davis alsmost scores for Wales! A free kick is delivered into the box and the US fail to deal with it. Davis throws himself at it but his header is saved really well by Matt Turner.

And then Moore almost scores with a glancing header from the corner! Wales on fire at the moment.

Wales a little better

By Dan Colasimone

55' USA 1 - 0  Wales

The game has oppened up a bit and Wales look a bit brighter. They are pressing and winning back possession and the US look more stretched. That being said, there's space down the other end as well, so watch the US counter attack.
