Fifa Women's World Cup 2019: Fixtures, groups, TV channel information, live stream, venues and odds

The 2019 Fifa Women's World Cup gets underway on Friday with England arriving in France as one of the competition’s favourites.

The Lioness’ suffered semi-final heartbreak four years ago in Canada – with a last-minute own goal from Laura Bassett seeing them crash out against Japan.

While they secured a third place finish with a play-off win over Germany, they are hungry for greater success this time around.

Phil Neville’s side have been given a reminder of the task at hand, however, with a shock defeat to New Zealand last Friday.

But they remain firmly among the frontrunners as we approach kick-off.

When does it start?

The Fifa Women’s World Cup officially gets underway on Friday 7 June with hosts France kicking off against South Korea.

The group phase runs until 20 June with the knock-out stage commencing on 22 June. The final is scheduled to take place at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday 7 July.

England begin their campaign against Scotland on Sunday 9 June.

  • vs Argentina | Friday 14 June, BBC One, 8pm
  • vs Japan | Wednesday 19 June, BBC One, 8pm

Who are England's main rivals?

FRANCE
Odds: 7/2

The pressure will be on the hosts to deliver. French football has long dominated the club game in Europe, though that success has not yet translated on to the international stage. Eight players from European champions Lyon are in the squad, including forward Eugenie Le Sommer and could be their time to claim a first-ever World Cup.

GERMANY
Odds: 5/1

After back-to-back World Cups in 2003 and 2007, Germany have not made it to the final since. Their 2011 quarter-final exit to Japan was a big shock and they were knocked out by eventual winners USA in the semi-finals in 2015. Won gold at the 2016 Olympics and have not lost a game since March 2018. Their rivals should beware.

USA
Odds: 11/4

The champions have had a mixed time since lifting the trophy four years ago. They were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Olympics in 2016 by Sweden and surrendered their No1 world ranking a year later to Germany. However, they appear to have found their feet again. They have never finished worse than third at a World Cup and have gone all the way on three occasions. Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe will be key.
