Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland scored nine goals for his team against Honduras in 12-0 demolition of Honduras in the ongoing Fifa U-20 World Cup.
Nine goals in a single game is the most goals scored by a player at the Fifa U-20 World Cup match. Record was previously held by Brazil striker Adailton who scored six past Korea in a 10-3 win in 1997.
Haaland scored four of his nine goals in the first half, while five of his goals came in the second, including two in the final three minutes of the game against a hapless Honduras team that ended the game with nine men.
The striker currently plies his trade for Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg and has played for their first team twice, scoring once. He was scouted by Premier League Champions Manchester City last season and the attention after his heroics is sure to notch up a level or two.
Haaland is the son of former Norway international Alfe-Inge, and was born in Leeds, England where his father was playing at the time.
Norway finished third in group C of the tournament on three points behind Uruguay and New Zealand and now must wait to see if they have made it to the round of 16. Only top two sides from each group make it to the knockout stages while 4 of the best third place teams also advance.
