FIFA's player contract plan that will affect Nottingham Forest - report

Players who are set to be out of contract this summer will be made to stay at their current clubs until this season is completed, according to a report in The Times.

The English football season has been postponed until at least April 30 due to the coronavirus crisis, with the FA agreeing to extend it indefinitely.

With the 2019/20 campaign likely to continue into the summer, it could cause problems for clubs who have players on contracts until the end of June.

But The Times say FIFA is drawing up a plan to deal with the exceptional circumstances.

"Players looking to move when their contacts expire at the end of June will be made to stay at their clubs until this season is finished as part of a Fifa plan drawn up in response to the coronavirus crisis," they report.

A number of Nottingham Forest players are due to see their deals run out in the summer, including Ben Watson and Sammy Ameobi.
