FIFA release three-step edict to combat racism, bigotry and all forms of discrimination

FIFA recently released its three-step protocol to combat racism , bigotry and any other form of discrimination.

With the rise in racism and anti-social behaviour in football, the governing body is urging clubs and leagues around to the world to follow their proposed procedure to try and eradicate the issue.

In the event of serious discriminatory incidents, the first step is for the referee to stop the match with a stadium announcement to fans explaining the decision.

If the abuse continued, step two would be to suspend the match for an appropriate amount of time and request teams to go to the dressing rooms with another announcement to be made.

Step three would be to completely abandon the match to show a zero tolerance towards racism and severely punish the type of behaviour that has plagued the sport, especially in recent times.

Antonio Rudiger is the latest victim of racist abuse in today's game between Spurs and Chelsea as the defender indicated that he had heard monkey chants from the Tottenham support in the 63rd minute.

The stadium announcer read out a warning three times over the tannoy stating "racist behaviour from spectators is interfering with the game" with the final one arriving in stoppage time.

Under FIFA 's three-step edict, the Premier League clash should have been abandoned but the game continued as Frank Lampard's men ran out 2-0 winners.
