FIFA 23 World Cup mode release date and content confirmed with no standalone mode

EA Sports have revealed the 2022 World Cup mode for FIFA 23, and it's confirmed there is no separate Ultimate Team World Cup game mode.

It was confirmed in the build-up to FIFA 23 's release earlier this year that a 2022 World Cup mode would be added to the game at a later date. EA has now confirmed that the FIFA 23 World Cup mode will be released on Wednesday, November 9, 2022. And now, EA has released a deep drive trailer, going into detail about what to expect in the FIFA 23 World Cup mode.

There will be no separate Ultimate Team World Cup game mode like in FIFA 18 and FIFA 14, but there is still lots of themed content coming to FUT after the World Cup mode launch. Part of the themed content coming to FUT will be brand-new FUT campaigns being released November 11 through December 23, Live World Cup-themed player items and World Cup FUT Heroes.

As well as FUT Content, the trailer also revealed playable teams, different ways to play and much more. Here's everything we learned about the FIFA 23 World Cup mode from the deep dive trailer, released on the official EA Sports FIFA Youtube channel.

FIFA 23 World Cup mode explained

All 32 qualified nations are available to use in FIFA 23's FIFA World Cup mode in an authentic recreation of 2022 FIFA World Cup. Currently, a lot of the qualified nations are not in FIFA 23 whilst Brazil are full of unauthentic players, so it's good to see that the real players and teams can be used in the upcoming release.

Players can also substitute teams into the tournament that missed out, meaning the likes of Italy can be used in the FIFA 23 World Cup mode. From the game modes launch on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, players will be able to play in an Online Tournament mode, as well as offline.

FIFA World Cup: Live

From Monday, November 21 2022 until Sunday, December 18 2022, FIFA World Cup: Live, a curated EA SPORTS World Cup experience, will be available to play. During the Group Stages and Knockouts, this new mode will be updated alongside the real World Cup, allowing players to play the most authentic World Cup mode with real fixtures and squads.

Your FIFA World Cup

In this offline mode, players can choose a nation, select a live starting point from past or current matchdays at any point during the World Cup, and take part in the single-player tournament using all real-world progress to date.

FIFA 23 Ultimate Team

2022 World Cup content will be coming to FUT 23 on Friday, November 11, 2022 until Friday, December 23, 2022. During this time, new FUT Campaigns will be released along with live player items that receive progression upgrades based on each nation's progress in the tournament.

Authentic team kits, stadium dressings, visuals, match balls, dedicated commentary and more will also be added to FUT to make it as authentic as possible.

The “World Cup Path to Glory” event will also be coming to Ultimate Team from November 11 to November 23, with 30 unique World Cup Heroes set to be released, presented in a custom World Cup themed Hero shell.

As the knockout stages begin, EA will celebrate the most impactful moments in the World Cup, celebrating key moments from qualification that captivated the world. Once the quarter-finals arrive, FIFA fans will be greeted by a new class of World Cup FUT Phenoms, uplifting the performances of some of football’s brightest stars.

As the end of the 2022 World Cup arrives, a Team of the Tournament will be released into Ultimate Team, with the players involved given permanently boosted player items All of this will be available for free on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One beginning November 9, 2022, with FUT updates kicking off November 11, 2022.

FIFA 23 is developed by EA Vancouver and EA Romania and is now available worldwide on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One.
