Fierce This Morning boycott threat after ITV confirm Ruth and Eamonn will be replaced

Furious This Morning viewers have threatened to boycott the ITV programme in 2021 after ITV confirmed that Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes would be replaced.

The Mirror exclusively revealed last month that the much-loved hosts would be replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary on Fridays.

Ruth and Eamonn will still continue to cover for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield during the holidays.

Alison and Dermot will host This Morning on Fridays from 8th January 2021, but it's not yet known when Ruth and Eamonn's last Friday show will be.

Eamonn broke his silence on the news on Twitter and posted: "It's a changing of the guard on Fridays from January.

"We hope you make Alison and Dermot as welcome as you've made us over the years. Have a Ball you two!

"It's not Goodbye from us, it's simply Au Revoir until the next half term."

Ruth also shared the same post to her Twitter account.

But confirmation of the news sparked an uproar from angry fans, who have threatened to boycott the show in protest.

Taking to Twitter, one wrote: "Won't watch on Friday if Ruth & Eamonn aren't there."

While another fumed: "Stick with Eamonn and Ruth please. They’re brilliant."

A third raged: "Don’t push Eamonn and Ruth out is all I ask as I shan’t be watching if you do. They are real!"

But others congratulated Alison and Dermot on the news, with one commenting: "Oh yay this is such amazing news."

While actress Hayley Hammaddon wrote: "It’s about bloody time!!!!!! Congratulations my dear friend! Very much hoping and overly excited for the time you have to interview me! oh we will giggle!"

*This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV
