If you’ve been looking for a reason to visit Chicago’s Field Museum, then you won’t have a reason not to next month.
For the fifth year in a row, the Field Museum is offering free admission to Illinois residents throughout the month of February, according to a release from the museum. For a family of four, that comes out to $80 in savings, based on the cost of full-price tickets.
To get in, Illinois residents will need to bring a driver’s license or state ID, the release said. Library cards, student IDs, utility bills, leases, work IDs or check stubs will also get residents in the door.
Free admission includes all general admission exhibits, including “The Ancient Americas,” “Evolving Planet” and “Inside Ancient Egypt,” the release said. Discounted All Access or Discovery passes include 3-D movies and exhibits like the Cyrus Tang Hall of China, “Underground Adventure,” “Fantastic Bug Encounters” and, for dinosaur lovers, special exhibits on Sue and Maximo, the museum’s T-rex and titanosaur.
Several traveling exhibits are also available in February.
“Antarctic Dinosaurs” follows scientists as they brave a forbidding environment to look for fossils, according to the museum’s website. “The Machine Inside: Biomechanics” is an interactive exhibit that brings the field to life.
