The multi-talented Anthony Warlow returns from Broadway to star as Tevye in Tim Lawson’s Australian production of Fiddler of the Roof.
He is joined by actor Sigrid Thornton, who plays Tevye’s wife Golde; Mark Mitchell, who plays the wealthy butcher Lazar Wolf, and Aria-award-winning singer-songwriter Lior, making his musical theatre debut.
Set in a Jewish town in a changing Imperialist Russia in 1905, Tevye attempts to hold onto his family’s traditions, and arrange a marriage for his daughter, while she wants to marry a middle-aged butcher.
Created by Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick and Joseph Stein, the musical is based on Sholem Aleichem’s Tevye and his Daughters. It debuted on Broadway in 1964 and went on to win ten Tony awards and run for almost ten years.
