Fiancee's heartbreaking tribute to Joseph Duffy after 39-year-old's body found in River Clyde

The heartbroken fiancée of a Glasgow man whose body was found in the River Clyde yesterday has paid tribute to those who helped to bring her 'soul mate' home.

Joseph Duffy was last seen on April 11 when he disappeared from Newlands in Glasgow's south side.

The 39-year-old's body was found in the River Clyde at around 1.30pm yesterday (May 2).

Jennifer Abdullah posted an emotional message on Facebook this afternoon, thanking the community for their support.

She wrote: “We would like to thank everyone for their kind words, cards, flowers and continued support for myself and all the family.

“Another special thanks goes to everyone who helped, over the Easter weekend, in trying to find Joseph. We cannot put into words how grateful we are for everyone's dedication to finding him.

“We would like to personally thank George Parsonage, The Glasgow Humane Society and Police Scotland for their endless commitment over the last 3 weeks.

“Due to their constant hardwork, we now have our Joe home and we can lay him to rest in peace."

Jennifer also said that over £12,000 has now been raised by those who loved Joesph in honour of Samaritans, the family’s chosen charity.

“We are also overwhelmed by everyone's generosity in raising nearly £12,000 in Joe's name for the Samaritans.

“From the bottom of our hearts, please remember to speak out. No matter how big or small the matter is, don't struggle alone and in silence. It's okay not to be okay!!”

Jennifer previously said she was "broken" after losing her soul mate.

She wrote: "You were my world, soul mate and best friend! You made me the happiest girl alive especially through my hard times."

Friends and family hung Celtic tops across the King George V bridge overlooking the river in a touching tribute to Joe who was a supporter of the Glasgow team.

Joe’s sister Christina Cowie added: “Love you so much Joe.

“The memories we have of you are so precious.
“You have left a massive hole in everyone’s heart.
Will miss you so much my bro.

“Fly high with the angels.

“You’ll never walk alone.

“Riposa in pace.”
