Feyenoord warm up for Rangers clash by surviving late Ado Den Haag fightback

Feyenoord survived a late comeback from Ado Den Haag to claim all three points ahead of their trip to face Rangers.

Jaap Stam's side looked comfortable at De Kuip as they raced into a 3-0 first half lead but two own goals in the final 13 minutes left home fans panicking.

The Rotterdam outfit opened the scoring after six minutes when Rick Karsdorp netted from the spot before former Swansea winger Luciano Narsingh added a second.

It was another former Swansea player in Leroy Fer that added the third on 33 minutes when he scored a penalty and it looked like Feyenoord would run away with it.

They appeared to take their foot off the gas as they put one eye on the Europa League clash at Ibrox but it almost came back to bite them.

First it was Edgar Le who put past his own keeper before Renato Tapia scored a second own goal on 83 minutes to leave Feyenoord fans nervous for the final few minutes.

There was a blow for the home side with Steven Berguis injured and unable to play but striker Nicolai Jorgensen did return to the squad.

Steven Gerrard will have his side ready for Thursday night's game and admits he's looking forward to hearing from old pal Dirk Kuyt.

The former Liverpool forward is a legend at De Kuip and Gerrard said: “Dirk is one of the people in the game you want to stay in touch with. He was a great player and a great character.

“Everyone loved Dirk. So when I got the invite to play in his testimonial, I couldn’t wait to get there.

“I went to Feyenoord on the day and played in front of a full, fantastic stadium. Then funnily enough, we get them in the Europa League draw and I’m going back there soon.

“I hope Dirk becomes a manager too. In fact, I wish he was next to me on Thursday night at Ibrox.”
