There was new year joy for two sets of Dublin parents as they welcomed their babies just after the stroke of midnight.
Ireland's first baby of the new year was born at the National Maternity Hospital at Holles Street in Dublin, just after the stroke of midnight.
The baby girl, who has yet to be named, was born to parents Selina and Nathan Burke from Dublin, at one second after 12am.
Both mother and baby are doing well after the birth.
Meanwhile, the Rotunda Hospital which is Ireland's busiest hospital was delighted to announce that baby Carter Claxton was the first baby born in the hospital in 2022.
He was born at 1.37am, to proud parents Ciara and Graham Claxton from Hollystown, Dublin.
