Festive fun for the family this weekend at Cumnock's Dumfries House

With less than two weeks to go until the big day, Dumfries House are spreading some festive cheer by opening the estate’s Reindeer Trail from 10am tomorrow (Saturday, December 12).

Families are in for a treat as children can leave a message for Santa and prizes are also up for grabs.

The woodland walk, which starts just outside the exit of the main car park, will give families the opportunity to explore the estate’s beautiful woodland areas while searching for friendly reindeer faces nestled amongst the trees.

Each of the reindeers also features a QR code which, when scanned on a smartphone, will play a classic Christmas song.

At the end of the walk, there will also be an opportunity for young visitors to leave a message for Santa on the Dumfries House wishing tree.

Julie McCluskie, manager of the estate’s Coach House Café, said: “This year, we’ve missed being able to welcome families to visit Santa in his grotto at Dumfries House and so we are really looking forward to spreading some festive cheer within the local community through our new Reindeer Trail.

“To celebrate the launch, we will be giving away a voucher for afternoon tea in the Coach House Café to one lucky family that takes part in the trail this weekend.

“There will also be several smaller runners-up prizes. To be in with a chance of winning, simply take part in the trail this weekend and visit the Dumfries House page on Facebook or Instagram to find out how to enter.”

She added: “There is no charge for guests to take part but we would ask that all guests adhere to social distancing guidelines while enjoying the trail.”

For those wishing to warm up after enjoying the trail, the estate’s Coach House Café will be open from 10am-4pm and will be serving a selection of festive treats including speciality hot drinks and festive cakes.
