Festive Fugitives: Alleged member of EncroChat gang linked to 471kg of drugs

Christmas means the return of the annual Festive Fugitives campaign as the ECHO profiles some of Merseyside's most wanted.

The series today focuses on the hunt for Callum Hogg, wanted in connection with an investigation launched as a result of the hack of the EncroChat communications network.

Hogg is wanted by Merseyside Police on suspicion of conspiracy to supply Class A drugs.

Earlier this year, Liverpool Crown Court heard he was the alleged top man of a gang that moved £8m of illicit substances in just two months.

Linked to the movement of 170kg of cocaine, 11kg of heroin and 290kg of cannabis, the network was forced to compile detailed records on Microsoft Excel to stay on track of its business.

Stephen McNally, prosecuting, said: "This was not the stuff of tick lists on scraps of paper, this was the stuff of spreadsheets."

The court heard the gang's alleged ringleader was Hogg and that he was suspected of being the figure behind the EncroChat device operating under the codename "SpeedyHerder".

Detectives have been unable to question Hogg, 30 and from Roby, over the claims but they have dismantled the wider network he is suspected of being linked to.

Hogg is described as being 5ft 1in tall, of medium build, with brown hair, green eyes and missing teeth.

Anyone who has seen him - or who has any information about his location - is asked to contact Merseyside Police by calling 101 or via Twitter (@MerPolCC).
