Festive bargain as Ikea in Edinburgh hand out £20 vouchers to anyone who buys a Christmas tree

Those at IKEA appear to be feeling particularly festive at the moment – for they are giving away free £20 vouchers to anyone who buys one of their Christmas trees.

It basically means shoppers can bag themselves one of the 6ft Abies Nordmanniana trees worth £29 for just £9.

Staff at the Edinburgh store say they have plenty of trees in stock – music to the ears of anyone hunting a festive bargain.

The deal is running from 21 November to 24 December, and shoppers must redeem the voucher in store from January 13. It doesn't need to be spent until February 23 – so there's plenty of time to think about what you'd like to get with it.

Yesterday we reported which day most people are expected to put their Christmas trees and decorations up this year.

Saturday, December 7 is thought to be the day the majority will be decking their houses out – mainly because it falls on a weekend.
