
Floats decorated with gold and Japanese lacquer parade through the streets Tuesday as part of the more than 400-year-old Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival in Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture. The floats took one year to prepare, according to an association dedicated to preserving them. The festival was added to UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2016.
