Festival-goers help raise £120,000 for charity at TRNSMT

When it comes to TRNSMT, it's not all about the music.

Thousands of pounds were raised for charity during this year’s festival at Glasgow Green, as charities embraced the festival atmosphere with everything from glitter face painting to cup collections.

Thanks to this year's efforts, the total sum raised at TRNSMT since it first began in 2017 now exceeds £120,000.

Mental health was at the forefront of this year's festival as Samaritans attended the festival and spoke to hundreds of festival-goers and encouraged them to chat more openly about the issue.

Volunteers from Action on Children were also at the site and managed to raise £2,500 through glitter face painting at the festival across the weekend. They are also planning to auction three signed guitars donated by TRNSMT – last year, these generated about £1K.

Meanwhile St Andrew’s First Aid raised £3,600 via glitter face painting on site and Police Scotland Youth Volunteers collected 6,720 cups across three days and raised £672.

Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts & Events said: “Now in its third year, TRNSMT is an essential part of Glasgow’s culture, so it’s only fitting that we give back to local charities as well as larger ones that benefit the wider community.

"Since the beginning, we've been working closely with a number of organisations each year, through gifting tickets to raise money, or providing a dedicated space to speak directly to some of the 150,000 music fans at TRNSMT.

"We’re thrilled that the total amount of money donated through TRNSMT is now over £120,000 and that the effects of the event are reaching so many people either directly or indirectly.

"The continued support that we receive for the event is testament to the people of Glasgow and it’s a pleasure to be able to support the local community and help charities increase their visibility. We look forward to doing more of the same next year.”
