Ferry operators ready to welcome more passengers as Covid rules are eased

The UK ferry industry is ready to welcome passengers on board for a summer of great adventures as Covid travel restrictions are eased..

After more than a year with just limited travel allowed, ferry operators are keen to set sail again with holidaymakers heading for a much-needed break.

To inspire holidaymakers, Discover Ferries, the UK ferry industry body, has released a guide to destinations that are becoming safe to travel again.

Abby Penlington, director of Discover Ferries, said: “As travel restrictions ease, holidaymakers are ready to splash out on their next big adventure.

"Only the ferry offers destinations that deliver lasting memories, and a journey that is both enjoyable and Covid-safe.

"We offer something to wow all ages, from the latest culinary innovations for gastronomes to the buzz of the unknown for adrenaline junkies. Adventures like these come at the end of a journey by water.

“The holiday really does start as soon as you board too. Enjoy views over the water, a bite to eat or stretch your legs and, on larger ferries, catch a film, shop or relax in a private en suite cabin.

"Robust hygiene practices are in place, while social distancing comes as standard. Flexible booking options offer peace of mind in case plans change and operators are always on hand to help passengers enjoy their trip.

"On many services, passengers can board in their own vehicle, skipping a visit to the terminal. We even take the stress out of packing with generous or non-existent luggage allowances, including the option to bring your bike and your pets too. ”

To find out which ferry destination suits your holiday style, Discover Ferries has launched an interactive quiz with a chance to win free ferry tickets, visit www.discoverferries.com/destination-quiz/
